生命の樹
釈迦の存在を 示す大きな樹の周りに、様々な生き物が集まっている。生あるものが大地でともに生きることを表す。
大きな樹木は、古代から天と大地を結ぶ柱であり、建築の宇宙軸と見なされる。
樹木は花が咲き、実をならし、生き物に食べ物や棲家を与えたり、 酸素をつくり空気を清め、雨を降らし保水する。
そこに様々な生命がつながり、巡る。
TREE OF LIFE
Symbolized by the Bodhi tree, various animals gather around the Buddha, portrayingco-existence of all living beings on earth.
Believed to be the central cosmic pillar of architecture from ancient times, the tree links earth and sky.
Buddha’s symbol, the tree, wanting nothing for itself, causes rain, retains water in soil, offers fruit, flower and shelter, and warmth when burnt. It absorbs Carbon-di-oxide from air, produces Oxygen, and over time connects various forms of life.
